The control panel is giving you a 30 second window to disarm the system before an alarm goes off.
When programming a 5811 wireless door sensor, you have to choose a "Response Type," which communicates to the panel how to behave after a certain sensor is activated. If you choose "Door" for your device type, the L5100 Control Panel presents you with certain Response Types available for a door sensor.
The options are: Entry Exit 1, Entry Exit 2, Perimeter, Resident Monitor, Resident Response, General Monitor, and General Response. Entry Exit 1 and Perimeter are the most common response types users choose. For doors often used when a system is armed, choose Entry Exit 1. For doors that never open when a system is armed, choose Perimeter.
The Entry Exit 1 response type issues a 30 second timer that allows users to enter a door and disarm the system within the allotted time frame without triggering an alarm. Keeping delay times low will give an intruder a shorter window in which to break in the house before an alarm sounds. Perimeter Doors, on the other hand, have no delay timer and trigger an alarm the second a specific door is opened.
