How do you Power Cycle a Vista series control panel?

"Power cycling" is a great way to restore an unresponsive panel to a normal configuration.

It's important to note that power cycling may not always work to recover your system from an error, but it's certainly worth trying. To power cycle your Vista Series control panel you must disconnect its transformer and backup battery. The AC transformer (usually a 1321 or 1361) is plugged into a wall outlet, but not always in close proximity to the panel itself. If this is the case, try looking around the room, or in nearby rooms, to find the AC transformer. If you can't find the transformer, you can remove the power wires from the screw terminals on the control panel itself or you can trip the circuit breaker.

Disconnecting battery power is easy. Just unfasten either the black or red wire that connects the battery to the control panel.

Now your Vista panel should be powered off. To restore power, start by reconnecting the battery to avoid getting a "low battery" warning signal. Then plug the transformer back into the wall socket (or switch on the circuit breaker/reconnect power wires to the control panel).
