Once you determine your specific needs—such as waterproofing, single gang or narrow stile boxes, surface mounting, button colors, steel buttons, illumination, momentary or alternate (maintained) action, DPST/DPDT/SPDT configurations, LED color requirements, or required box clearances—you can consult Securitron’s published selection guides and charts for assistance.
When it comes to Access Control accessories, Securitron offers a wide variety of products. Understanding basic switch configurations will help you select the right accessory:
SPST (Single Pole - Single Throw): A switch with one input and one output (either NO or NC) that simply turns a circuit on or off.
SPDT (Single Pole - Double Throw): A switch with one input and two outputs, allowing current to flow from the input to one of two output terminals.
DPST (Double Pole - Single Throw): Two SPST switches operated by a single mechanism, allowing two separate circuits to be switched simultaneously.
DPDT (Double Pole - Double Throw): Two SPDT switches operated by one mechanism, enabling simultaneous switching of two separate circuits to different outputs.
Momentary Switch: A switch that returns to its initial state when released (like a doorbell). A timer can be used to extend activation time.
Alternate Switch: A switch that maintains its new state until it is pressed again (like a standard light switch). Also called maintained or latching.
NO (Normally Open Contacts): The circuit is open (no current) in the default state. Commonly wired in parallel for fail-secure electric locks.
NC (Normally Closed Contacts): The circuit is closed (current flows) in the default state. Commonly wired in series for fail-safe electric locks like Magnalocks.
With these options in mind, you can select the appropriate accessory. For example, a Single Gang, Tubular Key, SPDT Key Switch corresponds to a specific tubular keyswitch model, while a Narrow Stile, Momentary, SPDT Key Switch would correspond to another. Securitron also offers door position switches, door prop alarms, maximum security switches, latch monitors, relay logic packs, relay boards, timers (TM-2, TM-9, DT-7, XDT), piezo sounders (PZ1), and cover plates.
Securitron’s power supply options include battery chargers, UL-listed linear power supplies (BPS-12/24-1, BPS, BPSM, BPSS) and switching power supplies (AQD, AQM, AQU series), suitable for locks, door closers, strikes, readers, and other access control devices. They also offer PoE (Power over Ethernet) injectors and extractors, as well as wall plug-in power supplies such as the PSP-12 or PSP-24.
Many Securitron products are protected by patents. The company provides top-level customer support, accessible via phone at 1-800-MAGLOCK (USA and Canada) or by email, where you can reach out for support or product information.
