The BPSS linear power supply is a truly unique solution for access control in remote or isolated places. It is the only product out there that offers a complete solar power system that will work outdoors with almost any single point access control device or fail secure lock, and most keypads or card readers. In one unit you get high quality sturdy components combined with clean and sustainable solar and battery operated power.
The BPSS has a 125mA maximum for continuous output, with 450mA maximum operating the locking device that is intermittent duty only. Depending on the solar activity and current draw, the actual number of daily lock operations will be different. The unit operates between -4 to 113 degrees Fahrenheit, or -20 to 45 degrees Celsius. It comes in an outdoor NEMA-3R rated wall mounted cabinet that's 12-1/2" by 13-5/8" by 4-7/16" with mounting brackets that are big enough for up to 2" diameter poles or posts. There is also an option to get the PMK-3 kit for brackets that will accommodate up to 3" diameter poles. The dimensions of the power supply inside are 2-3/4" long by 7-1/4" wide by 3-1/4" deep.
The solar panels are high-efficiency photovoltaic modules that use silicon nitride multicyrstalline cells. The solid-state controller is an anodized aluminum case with marine rated terminals. The unit is enclosed in epoxy potting and approved for use in Class 1, Division 2, Group A, B, C, and D hazardous locations. When sunlight is available to charge the battery, there is a green LED that will light up on the control panel. If the battery charge falls below a set load disconnect point, the load will disconnect to protect the battery and a red LED will be lit.
The BPSS comes as either a 10W (BPSS-10) or 20W (BPSS-20) version, and you should choose the one that matches the solar activity in the location you plan to install it. The BPSS-10 has a 12V solar power supply with a 10W solar panel and 9aH battery. The solar panel is 14.5" by 12.2" by 7" and weighs 3.3 lbs. The BPSS-20 has a 12V solar power supply with a 20W solar panel and 18aH battery. The solar panel is 22" by 14.2" by 7" and weighs 5.5 lbs. The BPSS comes with the SPK 20W solar panel mounting kit, but you can also purchase the SWK high wind kit for 20W solar panel if the product will be used in an area where winds are strong enough to cause damage to the panels.
Recommended tools for installing the BPSS are:
